SCMA PLCs

Interested teachers have responded to the call to take part in field-testing resources prepared for the  Saskatchewan Common Mathematics Assessment Project.  These teachers will receive and make use of pre- and post-assessment documents that have been prepared for math outcomes K – 9 for the purpose of editing and improving them.  We will also work with outcome-based rubrics to design additional formative and summative resources that use principles of triangulation of evidence.  We know that the input from teachers will create better assessments and will provide the grassroots participation that is helpful for smooth implementation.

Plans for the structure of the PLC meetings will include one full-day, large group meeting to learn about the background to the project, set feedback procedures, and plan for incorporation of the outcome-based rubrics.  Subsequent small-group meetings will be held in January and May to collaborate on edits and improvements as well as to share AFL applications of the rubrics.
